At Maestros in Training, we believe every student has music within them—our job is to help it come to life.
Based in Cary and Pikeville, NC, we offer private lessons and group classes for all ages and skill levels, creating an environment that is welcoming, fun, and educational. Whether you're 2 or 82, our mission is to make music accessible, exciting, and meaningful.
Our programs blend strong foundational teaching with creativity and exploration. Students study rhythm, theory, composition, history, and performance across a variety of instruments including piano, guitar, voice, violin, ukulele, and more.
From our early childhood classes like Together in Tune and Maestro Sprouts, to foundational programs, all the way to performance coaching and music production—we guide each learner toward becoming confident, expressive musicians.

About Our Founder
🎹 About Shelby Jordan Maynor
Founder | Educator | Performer
Hi, I’m Shelby Jordan Maynor, a professional musician, educator, and lifelong student of the art of music. My journey began at just three years old when I first sat at the piano—and I haven’t stopped playing since.
With over 20 years of performance experience, I’ve studied everything from classical piano to operatic voice, jazz, and rock vocals. Along the way, I added guitar, violin, and other instruments to my repertoire, performing and singing throughout my school years and into my professional career.
As a concert pianist and seasoned performer on the East Coast, I’ve shared music with audiences of all kinds, and my true passion lies in helping others discover their own musical voice.
Since 2017, I’ve been teaching students of all ages—from toddlers to teens to adults. My background includes:
- Private instruction across multiple instruments
- Choral group direction and house band leadership
- Hands-on work in early childhood music education
- Guiding students toward confidence, creativity, and musical success
I founded Maestros in Training to create a space where music education is joyful, accessible, and inspiring for every learner. Whether you’re just starting out or ready to refine your skills, I’m here to help you grow into the musician you were meant to be.
