Mini Maestros

Foundations in Music for Ages 4-7

 Mini Maestros is a foundational music class tailored for curious young learners ages 4 to 7. Through imaginative play, movement, and age-appropriate instruction, students begin to understand the building blocks of music—rhythm, melody, harmony, and musical expression. This class bridges playful exploration with structured musical growth to prepare students for private lessons or continued group study.

What We Teach:

🥁 Rhythm & Tempo

  • Reading and clapping quarter, half, and whole notes
     
  • Understanding beats, bars, and measures
     
  • Differentiating between slow and fast tempo
     

🎼 Theory & Notation

  • Introduction to the musical staff
     
  • Identifying notes and rests
     
  • Learning the musical alphabet, intervals, and note direction
     

🎹 Chords & Tonality

  • Major vs. minor sounds (happy/sad)
     
  • Basic chord building using C, F, G
     
  • Song analysis to recognize patterns and structures (verse, chorus, bridge)
     

👂 Ear Training

  • Identifying high vs. low sounds
     
  • Singing back melodies and rhythms
     
  • Recognizing changes in pitch, tempo, and dynamics
     

🎷 Instrument Families

  • Explore strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion, and keyboard
     
  • Sound matching activities and instrument demos
     
  • Identifying instruments by sound and appearance
     

📚 Music History Moments

  • Fun facts about Beethoven, Mozart, and modern artists
     
  • Musical storytelling through different time periods
     
  • Listening to genres from classical to pop and global music
     

🎤 Musical Expression & Creativity

  • Improvising with percussion and melody
     
  • Composing simple rhythmic or melodic patterns
     
  • Group music-making and performance practice
     

Goals:
By the end of Mini Maestros, students will:
✔️ Read and write basic rhythms and melodies
✔️ Recognize and build simple chords
✔️ Understand music structure and tonality
✔️ Identify instruments and their roles
✔️ Gain musical confidence and listening skills
